In 2010, Petrom created the largest social involvement campaign in Romania – ”Rediscover Romania”.
For 3 months, 4 teams of people from social media visited the entire country and they placed the most important places and recommendations on the Petrom map for anyone who is interested in authentic Romanian values. 6.000 km were travelled, over 70 cities and 100 points of interest were visited and a map was made with over 800 places recommended to visit in Romania.
In 2011, the campaign planned on involving even more Romanians, rediscovering the Romanian tradition in places where it was kept undisturbed for hundreds of years and creating the most up-to-date and beautiful image of a less known Romania.
This is why Petrom has invited to this campaign the most important Romanian brands – Dacia, BCR and Romtelecom. With these brands, they organized 5 trips around the entire year, directly involving over 100 people and giving all those that were interested a map of the authentic Romanian tradition and beauty, a compendium of images and stories that represent the reasons it’s worth visiting Romania.
These brands were joined by Paralela 45, the Museum of the Romanian Peasant and Igloo, specialists that helped us capture unexpected and less known aspects of the places we visited. During the two years when the Rediscover Romania trips were organized, 20.000 km were travelled, 120 cities were visited, 1.000 blog posts and 12.000 tweets were written and 30.000 photographs were taken.
All the information we collected during our trips are available on the Petrom map that is integrated in the www.redescoperaromania.ro website. Through the iPhone and Android mobile apps, anyone who wishes to can add recommendations or points of interest that are worth visiting to the maps.
